R G Lee Triangle Trophy Competition
This competition is designed to encourage club pilots of all abilities to fly cross country using a small local task. The rules and possible tasks can be downloaded using the buttons below. The competition year runs 01 July to 30 June.

Jason Kelly and Ross Kent, flew the Hastings task on 16 July 2023 in the in the club's Grob 103C III S "hors concours", i.e. for fun as they started above 3,000ft at the end of a wave flight. A time of 14 minutes 51 seconds gave an average ground speed of 134.5km/h.

Jason Kelly and Antoni Milewski, flew the Hastings task on 04 September 2022 in the Twin Astir GMX "hors concours", i.e. for fun as they started above 3,000ft at the end of a wave flight. A time of 16 minutes 00 seconds gave an average ground speed of 124.6km/h. Heavy sink was experienced which did not leave much height to spare at the end of the triangle flight.

Returning from the Central Districts Contest in Waipukurau, Jason Kelly, with Brian Kelly, flew the Hastings task on 29 February 2020 in the ASH25M GRJ "hors concours", i.e. for fun as they started above 3,000ft at the end of a wave flight. A time of 10m 55s gave an average ground speed of 183.0km/h.
Jason Kelly, with Brian Kelly, flew the Hastings task on 15 December 2019 in the ASH25M GRJ in challenging conditions. Unfortunately the data loggers failed to give a trace for the flight.

Brian and Jason Kelly tested the task ex Bridge Pa on 01 December 2013 in the ASH25M GRJ. Flying "hors concours", i.e. for fun, as they started above the allowed starting height of 3,000ft, they completed the task in 11 minutes 07 seconds at an average speed of 179.7km/h.
Jason Kelly and Dion Sloan tested the Waipukurau task on 08 December 2013 in the club's Twin Astir GMX. After being towed from Bridge Pa to Waipawa, they released and then climbed in thermals before starting the task from Waipukurau. This flight was "hors concours", i.e. for fun, as they started above the allowed starting height of 3,000ft and they completed the task in 24 minutes 03 seconds at an average speed of 85.8km/h.
